Examiner Article:Alicia Minshew goes for laughs in Acme Comedy Theater’s Hollywood Dream Role
After spending nearly a decade crying her eyes out every day as Kendall Hart Slater on “All My Children,” Alicia Minshew was ready to switch it up and switch it up she did on this past weekend. Alicia went all out for laughs as the celebrity guest star in Acme Comedy Theater’s Hollywood Dream Role. The actress joined the theater’s company of actors for a hilarious improv performance based solely on situations shouted out to them by the host. Streamed live for audiences at home who wanted to see the performance, the actors went completely unscripted as Alicia played a woman who discovered the hard way that she was married to the mob. In front of a green screen and with the announcer throwing out scenarios [you're in prison that kind of looks like a dungeon; now you're at Coney Island; now you're in a hospital;now you're hiding out in a cave, etc.], the company kept the audience laughing, especially Alicia who sported a crazy accent and had the most daring, yet hilarious places to hide her gun throughout the night.Two of Alicia’s closest friends, daytime buddies, Tamara Braun (Ava, Days, Carly, GH and Reese, AMC) and Melissa Claire Egan (Annie, AMC and Chelsea,Y&R), were on hand to lend their support.
