The French Development Agency (AFD) is committed to continuing its support for training and capacity building for institutions and personnel working in the tourism sector.
The commitment was made by Ms. Sandrine Boucher, AFD Country Director for Cambodia during a meeting with Thong Khon, Minister of Tourism here in Phnom Penh this week.
Khon highlighted the situation of tourism in Cambodia, the policy and strategic plan on tourism development, the impact of COVID-19 and government measures, crisis prevention, resilience building and post-crisis restoration. .
The Minister reminded Mrs. Boucher of AFD’s contribution to the country’s tourism development.
The agency provided €1.5 million in grants for the Tourism Business Capacity Building Program (TCBP) and €11 million in the form of a concessional loan for the vocational school construction project (VST) in the capital Phnom Penh and the province of Preah Sihanouk, he pointed out.
Ms. Boucher praised Cambodia’s policy and strategic plan on reviving tourism during and after COVID-19.
AFD will continue to support the construction of VSTs in other potential provinces of the Kingdom, she added.
