Baghdad, Iraq – Orderii, a cross-border e-commerce platform closed a 6-digit pre-seed round in October 2022. The platform provides logistics services for wanted goods only available on foreign locations.
Orderii Founder and CEO, Shakir Ayad Al Jammas, said, “We have been serving Iraqi customers for several years now, enabling them to purchase products from brands that they cannot find in Iraq. We look forward to taking Orderii to the next level with investor funding and growing the business to serve the Iraqi customer even better than before.
He continued, “With this funding, Orderii will increase its presence in key markets like Turkey, China and the United States to provide Iraqis with more variety. We will also improve the customer experience on our mobile app through the integration of more features that will enable a seamless payment and package tracking experience.
Iraq Venture Partners (IVP) completed the investment round and plans to continue supporting Orderii in fundraising for future rounds. Zahi Hilal, Investment Director at IVP, commented: “Shakir has what it takes to grow a business in Iraq. He is operationally savvy and knows the Iraqi consumer. He has built a strong team and shown impressive traction without any external funding so far. Now, with funding, we can’t wait to see it take Orderii to the next level.
KAPITA’s Iraqi Angel Investor Network (IAIN) facilitated the investment. Mujahed Waisi, CEO of KAPITA, said: “Orderii is one of the startups from Orange Corners Baghdad and Scaleup Academy alumni, we are happy to see startups coming through the pipeline, we have started training them and prepare them for the investment for IAIN”. He added “we are happy to see this investment and to have an investment company like IVP in the ecosystem”.
Shakir founded Orderii seven years ago as “Shakir Amazon” in Baghdad. Recently, Orderii has expanded its infrastructure and team to meet a growing demand from Iraqi consumers for foreign products. This rise in demand stems from the increase in digital literacy and adoption of smartphones among the young population of Iraq over the past few years.
Orderii maintains strong logistics relationships with key suppliers, which enables it to offer competitive shipping rates and shorter delivery times than its competitors. Unlike traditional e-commerce platforms, Orderii facilitates online shopping from foreign sites, offering authentic products that are inaccessible to the typical Iraqi consumer, and delivering them to the customer’s doorstep.
