[On Tuesday]Congressman Salud Carbajal highlighted the new Inflation Action Plan designed through its work with the New Democrat Coalition (NDC) in the U.S. House, highlighting its policy solutions that will reduce costs for Central Coast families, while unveiling its new resource guide on central coast inflation.
The multi-pronged action plan was created through the collaboration of Representative Carbajal and NDC members. Inflation Task Force in consultation with key economists, policy experts and administration officials to develop and advance solutions to combat short- and long-term inflationary pressures.
“I know families on the Central Coast are feeling the pain of high prices at the gas pump and at the grocery store – and I know this pressing issue needs urgent solutions,” Rep. Carbajal said. “That’s why I’ve been working with my colleagues in Congress and the Biden administration, as well as economists and policy experts to identify concrete solutions to relieve Americans in the short term and keep inflation going in the long run. I will continue to do everything in my power to bring prices down and create a strong, steady, and stable economy for Americans today and for future generations.
Representative Carbajal also unveiled [Tuesday] its new Central Coast Inflation Resource Guidethat his constituents can use to reduce their daily costs for transportation, health care, food, etc.
“The higher cost of living places a significant burden on working families who are already struggling to make ends meet, and I work in Congress to ensure that no one has to face even higher prices. as we navigate through these difficult times,” said Rep. Carbajal. “As I work in Congress to implement these solutions, I hope all Central Coast families will check out this guide as a way to find programs and resources that already exist to help lower their monthly costs.”
The guide also reminds Central Coast families that anyone in the 24th congressional district having trouble with federal agencies or programs designed to support them can contact his office.

Additional context on the inflation action plan
The Inflation Action Plan includes calls to action on key priorities Rep. Carbajal has championed over the past year, including:
Shift investments into domestic manufacturing of critical components, including semiconductors, to reduce the costs of appliances, cars and in-demand energy technologies,
Extending tax credits to support lower healthcare premiums, more affordable childcare and an extension of the expanded Child Tax Credit,
Support funding and legislation that will help build more affordable housing and lower housing costs for California families,
Enact the Agricultural Workforce Modernization Act and the American Dream and Promise Act to secure legal immigration channels and strengthen the workforce available in the United States,
Invest in clean energy technologies to reduce dependence on volatile global energy markets and continue releases from the United States Strategic Petroleum Reserve,
And enact prescription drug pricing reforms to allow Medicare to negotiate lower prescription drug prices, crack down on price gouging for drugs, and cap the cost of certain prescription drugs, including insulin .
The inflation action plan also highlights steps already taken by Congress and the Biden administration to fight inflation, including the approval of the bipartisan Infrastructure Act and the Reform Act. shipping to reduce supply chain disruptions and reduce inflated shipping costs for U.S. businesses and consumers.
The inflation action plan was called “the best inflation-fighting plan to come out of Congress yet” in Forbes magazine; and heralded as a “surprisingly bold move” and a “simply smart policy” in the Washington Post.
Rep. Salud Carbajal represents California’s 24th congressional district, encompassing Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo and part of Ventura County.
