Check presentation held at St. Marys provides funding for infrastructure

PARKERSBURG, W.Va. (WTAP) – A check presentation took place today on the grounds of the former St. Marys High School.

The check for $100,000 from the state of West Virginia was given to the Pleasants County Development Authority to create a new business park on the old land.

With infrastructure being a concern for many people living in West Virginia, the presenters said it was nice to get the funding for things like this.

They hope this project can bring many benefits to their county, such as jobs and thriving businesses.

Congressman David McKinley said raising the funding is the first step toward better, more up-to-date infrastructure.

“The infrastructure is so important, for them to have the funds now that they can put in place for the infrastructure on this site. The site is there, the land is here. So what they’ve done at Charleston and raising the money to do this is a big step forward in helping and giving the community here economic development opportunities,” McKinley said.

McKinley doesn’t expect construction to take long and thanks everyone who secured funding as quickly as possible.
