IDAHO FALLS, Idaho (KIFI) – The Eastern Idaho Resource Advisory Committee (RAC) for the Caribou-Targhee National Forest will meet on May 23, 2022 at the Forestry Supervisor’s Office located at 1405 Hollipark Drive, Idaho Falls, Idaho.
Agenda items include election of a chairperson, approval of operating procedures, review of project applications for Safe Rural Schools funding, and review and allocation of funds for various proposals for projects on public lands.
“Resource advisory boards are essential parts of our collaborative approach to managing public lands,” said forestry supervisor Mel Bolling. “Their diverse perspectives give us insight into the development and implementation of the project, and we thank them for volunteering their time and talents to improve public lands at the local level.
The meeting will start at 9:30 a.m.
The Eastern Idaho RAC was established in 2001 and seeks to distribute $600,000 for forestry projects in an 11-county area. The committee provides feedback on projects that improve forest health and local community economic improvements. Funds can be used for projects on the forest or on adjoining private lands that benefit national forests. The meetings are open to the public and participants can address the CCR from 9:30 to 10:30. Persons wishing to make an oral statement at the meeting must make a written request no later than Friday, May 6, 2022, to be scheduled on the agenda. .
