The partnership represents another landmark use case for open banking payments, but also serves as a reminder of the growing demand and widespread adoption of cryptocurrencies around the world, with Mercuryo becoming one of the first companies powered by cryptography to integrate open banking payments for consumers and businesses at home and abroad. from Europe.

Along with Visa, Mastercard, Apple Pay, and Google Pay payment options, Mercuryo users will now be able to purchase cryptocurrency in real-time via an open bank account-to-account transfer, with funds leaving their bank account and cryptocurrency. purchased currency being deposited directly into their Mercuryo wallet in seconds.

This will likely be welcomed by consumers looking to make quick cryptocurrency purchases at a specific price and at a specific time. Another benefit is an unlimited transfer amount, which many cards have in place for customers when purchasing cryptocurrency.

Additionally, with the coming into force of SCA requirements on card transactions on both sides of the Channel, an additional security step has been added to the card payment process. While many have welcomed this verification process, it’s likely to make Open Banking payments more desirable in the long run, providing a potentially faster, safer and more convenient payment experience.

Mercuryo’s latest partnership with Volt follows their recent expansion into Latin America, with the company planning to open ten more regional offices in 2022 in Africa, South America and Asia. Since its launch in 2019, Volt has quickly become the world’s leading open payments gateway, while building and managing infrastructures for real-time open banking payments.
