Mi Casa Resource Center®, Denver Police Department, and FirstBank provide nearly 1,200 toys to the local community.

Denver, CO December 21, 2021 – (PR.com) – Mi Casa Resource Center® held its first annual Santa’s Workshop Toy Drive on Saturday, December 18th. Holiday music, coffee and hot chocolate were provided as staff and volunteers stood ready to deliver on their commitment to deliver toys to families in the Westwood neighborhood. Parents were registered in the event and then received a toy for each registered child. With an average of three toys distributed per family, Mi Casa made Christmas dreams come true. “I cherish the opening of our head office at this time of year, welcoming families, making a positive impact and educating them about our empowerment programs,” said Mi Casa CEO Angeles Ortega . She continued, “We couldn’t have done it without the volunteers and our wonderful partners.”

In partnership with the Denver Police Department, Mi Casa created an uplifting atmosphere for all who arrived on Saturday. Due to the massive support provided by the toy drive partners, resulting in nearly 1,200 toys donated, Mi Casa will be distributing toys to other families until Tuesday, December 21 during office hours. In addition, toys will be donated to the Colorado Coalition for the Homeless.

This initiative received support from the Denver Police Department Hotspot Grant, a solutions-based project that focuses on community outreach and relationship building opportunities. Officers received Westwood families while running the hot chocolate station at the Mi Casa Santa Workshop event. The ministry also funded toys. FirstBank provided additional support through funding and volunteers. Marine Toys for Tots, the Rotary Club of Conifer, Denver Museum of Nature and Science, St. Mary’s Academy, and Colorado Academy were partners in the toy collection.
