Mid Coast Hunger Prevention Program Offers Thanksgiving Options

The Mid Coast Hunger Prevention Program offers two Thanksgiving holiday meal options.

Thanksgiving cook-at-home kits include canned stuffing, sauce mixes, canned corn and green beans, butternut squash, carrots, potatoes, and a gift card. $10 groceries. Meal kits can be picked up at the MCHPP Pantry (12 Tenney Way) from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday, November 17. They can also be ordered online at orderahead.org. When filling the kits, the MCHPP gives priority to supporting local producers as much as possible. This year this included the purchase of 4,800 pounds of carrots from Crystal Spring Farm (Brunswick), 8,000 pounds of butternut squash from Six River Farm (Bowdoinham) and 6,000 pounds of Maine potatoes from Good Shepherd Food Bank .

Hot take-out meals will be available on Thanksgiving Day from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the MCHPP soup kitchen. No reservation or registration is required, and all are welcome. The Soup Kitchen Coordinator can be reached for questions at 725-2716 ext. 304 or by email at [email protected]

Funding from residents of Highland Green and 600 gift cards provided by the Albertson Companies Foundation made these vacation deals available.
